In order to be able to determine a setting, one must operate a rotary knob or lever. But what technology is behind the buttons? A small rotary sensor is used in these applications. The measurement of the angle of rotation works via the non-contact Hall effect. The non-contact measurement takes place via a magnet. The advantage of these sensors lies in their wear-free use. There is no need for a grinder to scan the position on the sensor. In addition, a sensor with a Hall effect works reliably even in the event of a power failure. If there is a voltage drop and the position is changed, for example by turning, the set position is reliably output. It is not necessary to read a reference point again.
